Commodity: Copper

Plant Capacity: 55Mtpa

Contract Type: Professional Services

OmniEM was awarded the contract for the supervision of installation and commissioning of process and materials handling equipment for our client who was in the process of building a Copper Beneficiation plant. This project is crucial as it aligns with the operations of a chrome crushing and screening plant, enhancing overall efficiency.

The services included mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems. Additionally, OmniEM supplies spare parts for the processing equipment as and when needed by the client.

Following the successful commissioning of the copper beneficiation plant, OmniEM’s contract was extended. We are now engaged in a 5-year maintenance and operations agreement to maximize plant availability and process efficiency, which also supports the operation of a slag treatment demonstration plant.

Processes and Equipment included:

  • Crushing and Screening
  • SAG and Ball Mill circuits
  • Flotation
  • Filtration
  • Thickeners
  • Solvent Extraction
  • Electro Winning and Copper Plant Stripping
  • Materials handling including belt conveyors, pumps, and pipelines.

Multi-Discipline Engineering & Integrated Verification Client: Confidential

Location: South Africa

Plant Capacity: 1 tph

Contract Type: Professional Services

OmniEM was appointed to deliver integrated multi-discipline engineering for a client-supplied process flow sheet for a 1 tph slag treatment demonstration plant. The scope covered civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation design development, along with vendor package integration to ensure technical alignment, constructability, and operability. This project aligns closely with our expertise in chrome crushing and screening plant configurations and copper beneficiation plant designs.

Engineering Scope

• Civil and structural design for modular foundations and support steelwork

• Mechanical equipment layout, piping integration, and maintenance access provisions

• Electrical reticulation, power distribution, and control panel integration

• Instrumentation specification, I/O definition, and control philosophy development

• Vendor package integration (interfaces, footprints, utilities, and tie-in requirements)

• 3D model coordination for multidisciplinary clash avoidance and constructability

• Coordination of laboratory and/or pilot-scale testwork to verify process assumptions, with the primary objective of supporting engineering-related design decisions and informing equipment selection and operating parameters.
